An oversized manganese ore deposit was found in China’s south-western province Guizhou according to local media Science and Technology Daily.
With a reserve of 157.8 million MT of manganese carbonate ore, the deposit has an average grade of 21.8% MN. This made Guizhou province China’s most abundant area of manganese.
Manganese ore is one of the strategic minerals China lacks as manganese has been increasing used in the industries of motive battery and magnetic materials. Previously oversized manganese ore deposits were mostly found in southern Hemisphere.
